Bereavement Program
The Hospice Bereavement Program recognizes grief as a normal response to the loss of a loved one. Professional grief counselors provide education on the grieving process and support in dealing with the often intense emotions of grief.
Services available to both Hospice patient families and open to the public include the following - choose a topic and click to see the answer:
- Beginning Again Program

An eight-week grief education and support group designed to assist people in their grief process. The small group sessions allow individuals to work through grief at their own pace. Sessions cover a variety of issues including grief vs. mourning, remembering loved ones, role changes, coping with stress, self-care and handling the holidays. The group is available to the loved ones of Hospice patients as well as to residents of the community at no cost to participants.
- TAG: Teenage Grief

A 6-week program that meets once a week at participating schools designed to assist middle and high school students with their grief process. Groups follow structured curricula and use journals that encourage exploration of grief issues. Participants must register and classes are limited in size.
- EGG: Elementary Grief Group:
- A 6-week program that meets once a week at participating elementary schools. Groups follow structured curricula that encourage exploration of grief issues in children. Registration is required.
- Other Bereavement Services

- Regular contact from a member of the bereavement team
- Thoughtful cards and reading materials
- Mailings on various grief related topics based on individual needs
- Lending library of grief literature
- Professional Bereavement Counselors for individual grief counseling as needed
- Memorial Services
- Annual "Grief During the Holidays" workshops
- Referrals to other services
- Professional Bereavement Counselors available for community presentations
